There was a time when my body felt far away.
I moved through the days in a fog.
I wasn’t hungry.
I felt numb and disconnected.
I isolated myself without even realising I was doing it.
This is what survival mode can feel like.
Not dramatic.
Not obvious.
Just quiet shutdown.
If you’re here because your body feels distant right now, I want you to know something first:
You’re not broken. Sometimes the nervous system simply needs gentle signals of safety again.
🌿 A gentle place to start
If your nervous system has been stuck in survival mode for a long time, small steps can help your body begin to feel safe again.
I created a free guide called Healing Your Nervous System, where I share the gentle practices that helped my body start calming down after years of stress.
You can explore it here:

The moment I realised something was shifting
Healing didn’t arrive all at once. It came in small, almost invisible ways.
One night, I slept deeply for the first time in a long while.
My breathing softened.
I noticed saliva returning to my mouth (a surprisingly important sign that the body is calming).
These are subtle signs, but they matter.
They’re part of nervous system regulation. The body slowly coming out of survival mode.
It wasn’t a breakthrough. It was a soft return.
⸻
Gentle things that helped me come back to myself
It wasn’t one big fix.
It was lots of small, kind moments repeated daily.
Here are some of the things that helped my body feel safer again:
• slow walks, even when I didn’t feel motivated
• warmth (baths, cosy socks, blankets)
• Being physically grounded
• quiet evenings instead of constant stimulation
• consciously slowing down
• creating a sense of safety in my own space
Being physically grounded was especially helpful for me. Deep, steady input tells the nervous system: you’re here, you’re held, you’re safe.
That’s where my foot massager came in.
I recently bought one from MEDCURSOR and honestly didn’t expect much. But it’s become part of my evening wind-down routine. The low setting is already thorough, and when I feel ready, I use the higher setting too. If I fully relax into it, I feel noticeably calmer afterwards.
Not cured.
Not magically healed.
Just… more present in my body.
Sometimes that’s enough.
⸻
A soft invitation
I’m not selling healing.
I’m simply sharing comfort.
If something supports my nervous system, I like to pass it on in case it helps someone else too.
If you’re curious, this is the foot massager I use:

Another small thing that’s been supporting my nervous system lately is magnesium. I take it in the evenings to help my body soften into rest. It’s not a cure, just another gentle signal of safety that’s helped with deeper sleep and easing tension.
I use this brand in particular because I like that it contains 8 different types of magnesium, and this product has no fillers or additives.
No pressure.
No expectations.
Just an option.

If your body feels distant right now, you’re not broken.
Sometimes we just need gentle signals of safety again.
And those signals don’t have to be big.
They can be quiet and simple.
They can arrive one evening at a time.
With warmth,
